At approximately 3.30am on Monday 8 July 2002, Huy Huynh (James) was found dead at the intersection of Alexandra Avenue and Chapel Street South Yarra, in central Melbourne. It was later found that he had died as a result of 48 incised injuries, including stab and slash wounds to his hands.rnWhen police arrived they learnt that James' brother John Huynh had been rescued from the Yarra River but that two of his cousins, Nam and Viet Huynh, were missing in the wintery waters. Police divers recovered the missing bodies from the river the next morning.
