Defining a taxonomy of output modalities from an HCl perspective

The paper addresses an issue that must be resolved to produce a scientifically sound and practically useful reference model for intelligent multimedia presentation system (IMP systems), namely that of providing, from the point of view of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), a systematic understanding of the types of output information to be presented by IMP Systems. The term 'medium', as it is used in the context of multimedia systems, is too coarse-grained for distinguishing Between different types of output information.
