Nearly a special issue on cryptography

Special issues of CS&I are usually initiated and managed by Guest Editors. Such Editors collect and review high-level papers, which in the main are very factual whilst presenting current results from research work in a clearly defined scientific field. In such manner, an accurate view of the state of the art position in such a field is presented. This "regular issue", consisting of 11 papers, includes 8 which in the main are devoted to research work in cryptography, authentication, digital signatures, security in mobile networks, etc. These papers were carefully reviewed and reworded based on the reviewers' comments before the revised versions eventually passed the reviewing process. In such manner, these 11 papers were made ready for publication in a bulk of about 60 papers under review or in preparation for production. A further look at this issue of 11 papers reveals that 9 of these are from 7 Taiwanese Universities with the remaining 2 being from the People's Republic of China and Lebanon, respectively.
