The 24-inch LaCie 324 isn't for the everyday consumer. Costing almost $1,000, it has a native 1,920×1,200 resolution, can handle Blu-ray playback with full 1080p and High-Bandwidth Content Protection (HDCP) compatibility, and has a reasonably fast 6-millisecond pixel response time. But the 324's video-friendly features give it the edge over other, similar-size monitors. The 324 has a built-in Faroudja DCDi processor for enhanced video playback, and it also has 10-bit gamma correction that calculates color transitions with twice the accuracy of a standard 8-bit monitor. The results were impressive: Color gradients of a Blu-ray movie were extremely smooth, and color accuracy was first-rate.
