The $299.99 Shure SE310s deliver superior sound quality and effective noise reduction for a set of earbuds, but a too-short cord and warranty take much of the gloss off these pricey 'phones. Our biggest beef with the SE310s was evident within seconds of donning them-the cord that runs between the earbuds and the head- phone jack is an inch or two too short for placing your music player comfortably in a breast pocket. Shure does bundle a gangly 3-foot extension cable, but its bulky inline mini-jack connector is heavy compared with the light cord and buds, and can exert strain on the buds.
