Gamers, video editors, and other speed-hungry PC users, rejoice: The next generation of processors is here, pushing performance to an even higher level. Intel's $999 Core 2 Extreme QX9650 is the first desktop processor based on the company's new 45-nanometer (nm) manufacturing process, code-named Penryn during its development. The new technology lets Intel put more transistors on its processors while reducing their size, heat, and power consumption.
