Created by apple-owned subsidiary FileMaker for the general computer user, the Mac-only Bento is personal database software that's easy to learn, thanks to its intuitive, visually attractive interface. Bento looks and behaves like a native OS X application. Its simple, iTunes-like interface includes a search box at the top right and a library pane on the left. We also like the fact that it doesn't require a lot of system resources, and in our trials it launched fairly quickly, even on a five-year-old Mac. You can look at information in a spreadsheet-like Table view or in a Form format, which lists everything in boxes that correspond to the fields you populate.
