The samsung i8 follows the trend of convergence devices: It's a digital camera, an MP3 player, a text viewer, a traveler's guide, and a video player. As a camera, though, the i8 performs competently, but not exceptionally. The i8 is a slim, 8-megapixel digital camera featuring a 2.7-inch LCD and a 3x optical zoom lens. At 4 ounces and 3.6×2.3 inches, it is both light and compact enough to fit in most pockets. There is no optical viewfinder, however, so you'll have to rely solely on the LCD to frame shots. The camera's rich feature set boasts 14 scene modes and a handy face-detection feature to ensure that faces are in focus.
