We study flow control and routing in a network of parallel links, in which competitive users make independent decisions to optimize their performance measures. The model we adopt in this paper differs from previously considered ones in that a user performs both flow control and routing, its performance measure is assumed to be a simple concave type function, and its service requirement is restricted by, e.g., a minimum demand or a system capacity. Adopting this extended model for parallel link networks, we prove that there exists a unique equilibrium which is a network operating point that attains user optimality.
