Letter to the Editor: Comments on 'Development of two-dimensional elements With a central circular hole', A.K. Soh, Z.F. Long [Comput. Methods Appl. Mech. Engrg. 188 (2000) 431-440]

The authors Soh and Long discus a derivation of a finite element with a circular hole. They published an almost identical version of the paper in another journal in 1999 [1]. In both versions of the paper ref- erence to previously published work on the subject matter has been omitted. Special finite elements with circular and elliptical holes as well as internal cracks have been already introduced in 1982 [2-6] (Fig. 1). The special finite elements of [3] have been cited by several authors (see e.g. [7-13]).
