International Terrorism Response Ignores Privacy

In their rush to respond to the threat of terrorism, many countries have enacted measures that adversely impact individual rights to privacy A number of trends can be identified: greater communications surveillance; additional search and seizure powers; more information sharing; and increased profiling. Although these trends are not necessarily new, the novel- ty ― and the concern ― is the speed with which they have gained accep- tance.
