It is a great pleasure to introduce the first 2011 issue of the Computer Communications (COMCOM) journal. After two years as Editor-in-Chief of the Computer Communications journal, I am very pleased of the results achieved by the journal during this period. The Computer Communications journal, after a major re-organization at the beginning of 2009, is now rapidly progressing to became the reference journal for researchers working on next generation networks, future Internet, opportunistic and social networking, broadband wireless technologies, etc. The large number of submissions (1000+ submissions per year) clearly indicates that the journal is a reference forum for a very large community of researchers working in the computer communications field; on the other end, the low acceptance rate (about 20% in 2010) guarantees that only high quality papers are now accepted for publication in COMCOM. The continuous increase of the COMCOM impact factor (now 0.933) witnesses that the journal impact on the scientific community is fast growing, thus guaranteeing to COMCOM authors a high impact for their works. Of special interest for COMCOM authors is also the tremendous decrease in the average time for the first notification. It was 24 weeks in 2008, before the journal re-organization. This time decreased to 19 weeks during 2009, and the statistics related to 2010 indicate that now the average time for the first notification is less than 14 weeks.
