Overclocking can be a great way to squeeze extra performance from your processor, but many people are concerned by the risk of permanent damage or reduced lifespan to their components. Traditional overclocking techniques place the processor under increased strain the whole time the system's powered up. So several manufacturers now offer the facility to dynamically overclock your processor when under load but return it to normal speed during less demanding periods. Gigabyte's CPU Intelligent Accelerator 2, or CIA2 for short, is a prime example.
