Children as young as eight can now make payments in shops and online using a pre-payment debit card. Such cards have been available to children age 11 and older for some time, bui scheme provider PKTMNY argues that younger kids should be able to learn about card transactions as cash becomes rarer. Parents can control how children use the cash card via a website, a spokesman for the company said, including the ability to turn off online payments and cash withdrawals.
