PowerDVD has grown from being simple DVDplayback software into a comprehensive media library, designed to help users store, organise and view their collection of music, photo and video files. DVD and Blu-ray playback are still supported, of course, but version 12 of the Ultra edition also attempts to integrate smartphones and tablets into a home media setup. The DVD and Blu-ray features are comprehensive. DVDs and other standard-definition videos can be upscaled as they are played to improve their appearance on a high-definition screen, and for users with a 3D display there's a similar trick to turn ordinary photos or video into 3D.
