Credit card purchases give two avenues for redress

Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, customers who have a claim against a seller for breach of contract or misrepresentation will, generally, have an equal claim against the card issuer. Banks have been known to tell customers they must get a court judgment against the supplier before the bank will consider a refund but the Financial Ombudsman Services (FOS) says this is wrong.
