Microsoft and Google have said they will add a 'kill switch' function to all future versions of Windows Phone and Android devices. A kill switch is a more advanced version of the 'lock' function for Android devices currently found in the Android Device Manager. It's an online tool that lets you send a signal to your stolen device that locks it with a username and password. However, thieves can get round this by resetting the device to its factory settings, which won't be possible with the new kill-switch function.
