The original HTC One (see our review, Issue 395) was one of our favourite Android phones of 2013, and it has now been superseded by the snappily named HTC One (M8). Although the M8 does have some eye-catching new features, it is for the most part a refinement of its predecessor rather than a radical departure. The first thing you'll notice is how well made the M8 is. The brushed-metal casing now has a shiny, glossy sheen, making it by far the best-looking Android phone we've seen. Despite this glossy finish it doesn't slip from your grip and is also exceptionally sturdy. However, because of its large 5in screen and stereo speakers, it's pretty big. This makes it tricky to hold and use with one hand, especially if your hands are small.
