New malware that wants to be 'friends' with you on Facebook

A new type of malicious software - spread via Facebook - infected more than 10,000 users of the social network in the space of just 48 hours last month, according to Kaspersky. In what is a two-stage attack, the malware originates from an innocuous-looking message in the user's newsfeed. The message tricks users by claiming a friend has mentioned them in a Facebook post. However, clicking the message downloads a Trojan to the user's PC, which can then install malicious browser extensions and take control of the victim's Facebook account.
