Tech giants team up to fight terrorists online

Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter have pledged to work together to stop violent and extremist content being spread on their websites. The companies are to share a database of unique "digital fingerprints" known as 'hashes' in order to identify videos and images that promote terrorism. This collaboration means that when one company removes a piece of content, the others will be able to use the hash to locate and delete it. Eventually other companies will be given access to the database to help combat extremist content online.
