With regard to Mike Whitehead's V V question 'How do I disable Ethernet to stop ransomware?' in Issue 614's Problems Solved (page 65), another possible solution would be to use the excellent program Net Disabler by Sordum. I use it on a dual-boot Windows 7/Windows 10 PC to disable network access on the Windows 7 partition. There are four methods available for blocking your network connection. I've found that the 'Disable Network Adapter' option works best for me, so with that option pre-ticked ( in our screenshot), you only need to click the Disable Internet button to block the internet connection. To re-enable when required, just click the Enable Internet button.
