BT gives half-price broadband for people on benefits

BT is to offer fibre broadband at less than half price to people on benefits. Those eligible for the new BT Home Essentials package will pay £15 a month for speeds of around 36Mbps, much cheaper than the normal price of £32.99. It comes with 700 minutes of phone calls. They can also choose the more expensive £20 package, giving average speeds of 67Mbps and unlimited calls. Both deals include the cost of a router, and come as rolling contracts, so there's no minimum term. You can choose to be billed monthly or quarterly.
