Windows and Office Clipboards?

In most Windows programs I can copy stuff by using the keyboard shortcut Control (Ctrl)+C. However, in Word 365 I have to press that same shortcut twice to put something into the Clipboard pane. Could you explain why this one Microsoft program seems to work differently to many other Microsoft programs, not to mention from Windows 10 itself? Let's start with the basics. Once, Windows Clipboard and Office Clipboard were distinct tools, albeit with some overlap. The Office Clipboard could store 24 items, the most recent of which was also held in the Windows Clipboard - as the latter could store only the one item.
