Age-checking firms sue Government over porn-block cancellation

Four companies that make systems to verify the age of internet users are suing the Government over its decision to shelve the scheme to force porn sites to check visitors are over 18. The age-verification scheme was passed in December 2018 as part of the Digital Economy Act. But its implementation was delayed several times, before it was suspended in October last year by Digital Secretary Nicky Morgan. She said the scheme could be added to potential new laws to create a regulator for the web.
