Openreach reduces broadband prices to boost full-fibre

Openreach is to cut the price it charges broadband providers to use its full-fibre network in a bid to get more people signed up to faster services. The company, which runs the UK's broadband infrastructure, charges Sky, TalkTalk, Plusnet and other providers to deliver services to customers via their cables. From 1 September it will cut the price for 330Mbps by 36 per cent, while prices for the 110Mbps and 40Mbps services will fall by 20 and 10 per cent respectively. These are wholesale prices paid by broadband providers, so won't be directly passed on to customers. But Openreach hopes they will help support its bid to deliver fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband to 4 million homes and businesses by March 2021. This target could be extended to 15 million premises by 2025.
