Numerical analysis of delamination in multilayered composite plates

Composite laminates are now widely used in both civil and military aircraft structures. However, it has been becoming patent with the use, that these materials were sensitive to damage, especially to delaminations due to low velocity impacts. In order to improve the performances of com- posite structures, an effort must be made concerning the prediction of damage growth and the evaluation of resid- ual strength. This work is an attempt to model delami- nated layered composite plates using a fracture mechanics approach.
