Varitional method for the solution of TPBVP arising in mechanics

This paper is concerned with a new method for solving two point boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations. The method is based on minimizing a cost functional, the solution of which satisfies the re- quired boundary conditions. It searches for the trajectory that satisfies the system of equation, in addition to the required boundary conditions. The method leads to an iterative algorithm which is described in detail. Numerical results for a number of systems appearing in applications is also presented.
