Stress expressions of single-lap adhesive joints of dissimilar adherends

The present investigation provides the correct expressions of adhesive stresses in Goland and Reissner's solution. An improvement on the inconsistent plane stress and plane strain relations using in Goland and Reissner's original paper is achieved. A set of generalized equations are suggested for the adhesive analysis in dissimilar adherends with different thicknesses and lengths. Some comments on the proposed European code of polymer composites structural design are also given.
