An analytical model for the pate wave propagation in multi-directional composte laminates was proposed. The model was based on the plane wave assumption and the use of effective laminate stiffness. The plate wave speeds were measured in various directions of the unidirectional laminate and three other laminates (quasi-isotropic, angle-ply and cross-ply). The measured wave speeds agreed well with the predicted ones considering the heterogeneity of the composites used. The input frequency, stacking sequence, propagation direction, and the type of material all significantly influenced the dispersion characteristics.
