The tensile stress versus strain curves of the textile reinforced cementitious composites (TRCCs) are fundamental information for the design and application of TRCC structures. However, they can be differently measured according to different test setups because of no international standard test method. To propose a new tensile test system for the TRCCs, the effects of different grips and textile surface treatments on the tensile behavior of the TRCCs were investigated. Both different grips and surface treatments generated significant effects on the tensile response of the TRCCs because they influenced on the interfacial bond between textile and matrix and consequently the development length of textile. Glass TRCCs generally produced a trilinear tensile behavior, while carbon TRCCs did a bilinear one. The bolted-clamping grip produced a higher tensile resistance of the TRCCs than the hinged grip, especially for carbon TRCCs. The polymer coating on the grip parts of carbon textile, with the bolted-clamping grip, even produced a trilinear response. Subsequently, the requirements for a standard test method were discussed.
