Structural Assessment of Composite Structures is fundamental in the application of these structures in any critical engineering application. These assessments are required during the life of the structural component. They are required at the design analysis and the through-life support of the structure. The papers within this volume, the Proceedings of the International Workshop on "Structural Assessment of Composite Structures" held at Monash University on 22 November, 2007 addressed a variety of research efforts that is devoted to these aspects of structural assessment of composite structures. One-day workshops on current topics in composite technologies have been associated with all 14 International Conferences on Composite Structures (ICCSs). Each workshop has received financial support from the United States Department of Defense research establishment. The Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD) in Tokyo, Japan, has financially supported the last five: Experimental Validation of Theoretical Predictions for Composite Structures in 1999, Smart Composite Structures in 2001, Damage Assessment of Composite Structures in 2003, Health Assessment of Composite Structures in 2005, and "Structural Assessment of Composite Structures" in 2007.
