The writer wishes to thank the discussers for their interest on the mentioned paper. The following is the writer's comments on the discussion.rn1. The solutions W and F (Eqs. (24) and (25) in Shen [1]) satisfy both equilibrium and compatibility Eqs. (7) and (8), boundary conditions Eq. (9) and the periodicity condition (Eq. (17) in Shen [2]) in the asymptotic sense. In numerical calculations, however, k may be taken as an integer or a continuous value, like the circumferential wave number n in the case of axial compression or external pressure. In such a case, condition W (X, Y/R) = W (X, Y/R + 2π) is not emphasized, details may be found in Kasagi and Sridharan [3], Hutchinson [4] and Hutchinson and Amazigo [5].
