The shear stress distribution of two testing methods for Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) wood bonds using finite element analyses and experimental tests was investigated. Pinus elliottii specimens bonded with two types of fiber reinforcement Vectran and sisal by the polyurethane and emulsion polymer isocyanates adhesives were tested. Numerical results indicate that the shear stress is not constant with stress concentrations at the borders, smaller than the theoretical at the center. Normal stress has no influence in results because it is small compared to the shear stress. The experimental findings confirm these results. Shear strength corrections factors for FRP-glue laminated timber design are recommended.
