Two for One

Winning a competition can sometimes pay huge dividends, beyond any expectations the architects had when they made their decision to enter. Five years after winning an invited competition for the University of South Dakota Business School [Vol. 11, #1 (Spring 2001)], Charles Rose Architects has been awarded with commissions to design not only the subject of that competition, but also a second high profile campus building, a new Student Center. In the meantime, the university decided that the Student Center should take precedence over the academic building; thus, that building is already under construction and should be completed in 2008. The School of Business is in design development and should be completed in 2009.
