Often the question is posed, 'Is any project, regardless of size, a legitimate candidate for a design competition?' Based on the results from the Erie Street Plaza competition in Milwaukee, the answer would seem to be a resounding, YES! Although many might regard this site as too small and insignificant for a major competition, its strategic location led the city to solicit ideas via a design competition. Milwaukee native and Competition Adviser, Jeffrey Ollswang, recognized the importance of this site from the very beginning. He was convinced that the high visibility of this future pocket park justified the effort a design competition would entail.
