If Chicago's Burnham Memorial Competition elicited some controversy, it was not so much about the winning design as about the choice of the site near the museum campus. Located in Grant Park, and flanked by the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium, the site of the memorial would seem to be in an ideal location, based on pedestrian traffic to the two neighboring institutions.
