The SAGE handbook of visual research methods

The current proliferation of visual research in many disciplines has led to the development of new visual methods as well as to further developments of existing methods that seek to integrate visual aspects in the methodological setting. At the same time the increase of visual research has fostered the publication of numerous textbooks, theoretical and methodological handbooks and theoretical reflections. However, as Pauwels (p. 3) rightly points out, so far there has been little integration regarding the diversity of approaches and findings stemming from different disciplinary backgrounds. The aim or intention of The SAGE handbook of visual research methods edited by Eric Margolis and Luc Pauwels is thus to present a state-of-the-art account of visual research that compiles the approaches of the various disciplines that currently contribute to the advancements in the field of visual research or visual studies.
