A class of distribution-free tests for testing homogeneity against ordered scale alternatives is considered based on a linear combination of two-sample U-statistics. This class of tests is resistant to possible extreme outliers in the first (k - 1) samples. The proposed class of tests is compared with several competitors in terms of Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency. A simulation study is carried out to see how the proposed test procedures maintain the nominal levels for fixed sample sizes.
