The initial deployment of Java began with the creation of applets for web pages, but recently, Java has caught the attention of the embedded systems and telecommunications markets. These markets are much more demanding in terms of performance requirements, size of memory footprint, real-time responsiveness, and embedded debugging and development tools. As Java continues to evolve, it will become increasingly better suited to software development for embedded communication systems.
