Dynamics of an Electromechanical Touchdown Bearing Mechanism

摘要

Safety bearings are used as a back-up systemfor the rotor-systems that use active magnet bearingsfor supporting the rotor. When the control fails due tounexpected events, the rotor drops on the safety bearingsthat prevent further damages of the system. This paperpresents dynamic studies of a novel electromechanicalsafety bearing solution. The parts of the studied systemare modeled as rigid bodies and the purpose is the studythe dynamics of a real system in means of simulation.The safety bearing mechanism is manufactured andmeasured in the laboratory environment. The studyshows that the dynamic behavior of the system canbe repeated using the simulation tools that combinesmechanical description of the system, electromagneticsand control system. Also, the electromechanical safetybearing solution seems to be feasible from the dynamicperspective.
