New EU guidelines on information exchange and cooperation

FOR the first time in the EU, the three European Supervisory Authorities have published joint guidelines on cooperation and information exchange, establishing colleges of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) supervisors.Known collectively as the ESAs, the agencies say this is to ensure effective cooperation and information exchange between competent authorities and that these measures are needed to strengthen the EU's AML/CFT efforts. The ESAs comprise the European Banking Authority,the European Securities and Markets Authority and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.
