This paper reviews the lack of adequate security and protection safeguards when implementing loT technology initiatives in the rush to adopt the new technology in an effort to catch effectiveness and efficiency gains. It stresses the need for responsible executives and professionals charged with the task of assessing and implementing loT initiatives to consider and provide meaningful and complete enterprise-wide protection that considers all aspects of security .auditing and loT systems protection with the active involvement of risk managers, data and information security functional units, internal auditors and contingency planning and business continuity professionals working in consort with any external solution providers and loT safeguard development groups.
