According to the Securities and Exchange Commission (S.E.C.) compliance mandates on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, publicly-owned companies over $75 million in capitalization should have by now met the main requirements of the SOX act. Those that achieve compliance did so with a massive effort and expense, especially with regard to Section 404 of the Act that requires an enterprise-wide assessment and remediation of weaknesses of their internal controls as they impinge upon financial integrity. When done properly, this was quite an accomplishment indeed.
