EFFECTIVE COMPLIANCE OF SARBANES-OXLEY AND OTHER LAWS REQUIRES A FORMAL COMPLIANCE OFFICE

Today's organizations are clearly subject to an array of new regulations that cover financial integrity (Sarbanes-Oxley), privacy and confidentiality of personal data (Gramm-Gilb-Bliley), Patriot Act (money laundering and terrorism issues), Basel Ⅱ- Europe and many others. Publicly-owned organizations recently were obligated to meet the first year Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements and must now prepare to establish a process and a program to meet ongoing, sustainable compliance mandates. With so much going on and at stake, the need for organizations to create a new C-level position to take leadership and coordinate all matters related to compliance and ethical behavior on an enterprise-wide basis has become a real necessity.
