The year 2000-01 seems to have started on a good note for the textile industry with exports rising by 19.3 per cent during April-May as compared to a one per cent decline in the corresponding period of the pre- vious year. Cotton fabrics and madeups led exports, recording growth of 18.1 per cent and 53.7 per cent respectively during the same period.
