Fluorescent colorants containing two coumarin units

摘要

Developments in coumarin colorants containing two coumarin units such as biscoumarin oxadiazoles, bis styryl coumarins, bis coumarins, bis coumarinyl ketones and biscoumarin podands are presented. Substituted coumarins constitute an important class of fluorescent compounds. Coumarin ring systems occur in several fluorescent whitening agents, fluorescent dyes and fluorescent pigments. Coumarin colorants are used in textiles, plastics, paints and printing inks where high visual impact is desirable, such as advertising and safety applications. They are also used in solar energy collector systems, dye lasers and a host of analytical and biological applications. In this article coumarin colorants with two coumarin units are discussed.
