Dispersing agents

Dispersing agents, as the name applies are chemical compounds, which when added to a colloidal suspension, tend to make the particles more disperse. The role of dispersing agents is to enhance the dispersion and ensure a fine particle size.Dispersing agents enhance the processes, (whether during dye manufacturing or processing), by effectively dispersing finely divided solids and liquids in aqueous environment. The dispersion process is a complex phenomenon that largely depends on many parameters, such as rheology, chemical structure of the resin, of the solvents and pigments, the presence of dispersing agent or dispersion technology used. Textile processing consumes huge quantities of dispersing agents both during the dyes manufacturing and during processing. The nature of dispersing agents depend upon the properties desired and class of dyes used. Dispersing agents can be of both high and low molecular weights. High molecular weight dispersants are suitable for high solids of 20-90% organics in water. Low molecular weights are effective in low solids solution of 1-20% organics in water.
