Pre-treatment of cellulosics: An insight review - Part 1

This review outlines the following aspects of pre-treatment: 1. Enzymatic desizing; 2. Alkali boil-off with and without oxi-dative desizing; 3. Bleaching. One estimate has it that 60-70% of textile processing faults can be attributed to wrong or insufficient pre-treatment. This is because the pre-treatment processes hold a key position within the finishing industry; practically every textile material has to pass through them in order to become the desired product.
