Application of herbs on fabrics

摘要

The application of herbal oils onto the textile substrates is a very new concept in itself. The herbal oil treated fabric could be used as medicinal fabrics for treatment of ailments like, headache, open wounds and also for treatment of the skin diseases. In the present work, herbal oils such as sandalwood oil, eucalyptus oil, & neem oil were applied on to the textile substrate. Another herb, used in this study, is turmeric, which is applied by the dyeing and finishing processes. Dyed as well as undyed fabrics were experimented for the effect of oils on the performance properties and color value of fabrics. Antimicrobial activities of such herbal oils finished fabrics were also determined.
