摘要

Scouring through enzymes is a new concept. Scouring of natural fibres with an enzyme-based formulation provides efficient removal of natural impurities from wool without any fatal damage to the fibre. Experiments were carried out to optimize four variables, namely, duration, temperature, pH and enzyme concentration for enzymatic scouring of woollen fabric. Among the trials taken, optimum conditions for cellulase treatment was 0.5 gpl for 30 minutes at 7 pH and 60oC.The selection of conditions was carried by the objective assessment of colour change, weight loss and tensile strength loss.
